Just a little note today.
You are probably cruising a little bit this week, given it’s the week before New Years, but a quick reminder that you never need “a Monday” to start something. And you don’t need “January 1st” to start something. And you don’t even need a morning to start something!

I’m back in LA after a great week with my assistant Sara in Denver plotting some amazing stuff for JillFit in 2018, and then to upstate New York for some holiday festivities with the fam. If you followed my
Instagram stories, you know that we are kind of intense, looolol. Lots of games, lots of laughs, and well, a few
drinks.
But today I’m home and in work mode again. Mostly because this is a lifestyle. I have a few things I want to get on your radar, and also I want to share a little story with you for this time of year.

Next, a short story about family.
Two Julys ago, I was living in a small apartment in Santa Monica, 4 blocks back from the beach, recently separated and
starting over in a new city by myself.
My brother Danny came to live with me for a month when I first got my puppy Pip, and soon after, his girlfriend Kelsey came to stay with us. They were transitioning to LA and staying with me while they looked for a place of their own. A few weeks later, I invited my friend Danny-J to come and stay with me after she left her marriage so she could get out of dodge and get her feet under her as she transitioned into a new life of her
own.
For a period of a few weeks, the 4 of us were crammed into my apartment, sleeping on couches and air mattresses, with our mascot, Pip the Pomsky.
Unexpected. Uncertain. But it ended up being the best time.
Strangers coming together all in transition and finding hilarity, fun, a couple drinks, a few tears and ... family.
It was dubbed The JillFit Dormitory and we continue to support each other
as each person goes their own way. Kelsey getting hired on the traveling Broadway cast of Dirty Dancing for 9 months. Danny Coleman getting a new job and traveling himself. And Danny-J moving to Playa del Rey and staying on the move. And now I’m in (a mercifully larger place) in Venice, ha!
The holidays for me are about connection, presence and making memories. And family. And I believe family is who you choose. I love my blooded relatives but I also love these people.
We bonded like no other, in a tiny apartment in LA. We found the funny in some of the scariest, uncertain and transitional times of our lives. And we were forever changed.
