A quick
reminder that today is the final day (until midnight PST tonight) to enroll in the Food Obsession Boot Camp LIVE course, where I’ll be personally walking you through your transition from all-or-nothing to #moderation365.
You can enroll right here.
If you are still on the fence, I get that, and I want you
to make the right decision for you.
Because one thing that I’ve learned when it comes to, uh, learning, is that “when the student it ready, the teacher will appear.”
In other words, timing is tricky. You only know where you are on the journey when you are looking back.
If someone had tried to introduce me to concepts like moderation, mindfulness, intuitive eating or eating to 80% full, as some examples, when I was determined to beat my willpower (and in turn beat up myself), and was in full-blown control-mechanism mode with my dieting, I would never have been open to the message.
I just wasn’t mentally open to a different approach.
In fact, I was so terrified of doing something other than then obsessing I was doing that I couldn’t even fathom it. “Moderation” wasn't hardcore enough, in fact, it felt like failure. And mindfulness was for yoga teachers, ha! Not my very grounded, action-taking self.
But over time, I finally came to the conclusion that I needed to do something different. The reality was that my weekly deprive-then-binge
was not working. My hours of cardio per day was causing me to break down into tears every morning I woke up and thought all the exhausting exercise I "had" to do to remain in control.
I knew I needed a change. But
it was scary!
And so, I want to allay your fears 'cause I have been there. As for me, I always feel better equipped when I have more info.
So, let’s go ahead and discuss a few questions that have come up so you know exactly what you’re getting and can feel safe and reassured making the switch to #moderation365:
What if I can’t be on the calls live?
All training
webinars will be recorded and sent out the next day so you can watch/listen/download at your leisure. If you can be on even 1 call live, you will get a ton out of it! And the best part is that you will have the education forever, to review and practice and go back through any time.
What if I have a busy month? I don’t know if it’s the right time for the program.
I love this discussion because it’s one of the benefits of
this approach—you don’t actually need to “have time to start.” This is not a meal plan, so you can begin any time, like literally on a Tuesday at 1pm. You don’t have to prep food or go grocery shopping or make time to think about food. In fact, the whole point of this course is to help you think about food less and improve your relationship with it so you have MORE time for other stuff! You can jump in right now.
I still have to lose weight? Can I do that with moderation?
Yes, I answered this question extensively on THIS Facebook live video. Moderation is about achieving a feeling of satisfaction without overdoing it. And satisfaction is calorie-independent, and since you need to create a caloric deficit to achieve weight loss,
we just have to be mindful of food choices and biofeedback cues—like hunger and cravings—as we do that. And I’d even argue that after you quit the obsessive thoughts about food and find some enjoyment in how you eat, doing the things necessary for weight loss (like consistent training, stress management and sleep quality) will be a lot easier to implement.
Jill, I love the idea of moderation, but I am terrified to try it because what if I gain weight??
Totally understand! And as we’ve mentioned in other emails over the last week, all-or-nothing eating is really about control. We do it because we don’t really trust ourselves or the process yet. And that’s okay. The loosening of the reins feels like losing control. BUT, the way I see it, as you master moderate eating, you begin to trust yourself more and more. And being around certain foods or situations becomes easier and you don’t overindulge. And THAT
experience is the ultimate in control. And freedom. But also, I answered the weight gain question right here, too.
At the end of the day, you have to be willing.
I am not in the business of trying to convince you if you’re still struggling to maintain a hold on your old dieting
ways.
BUT, I do think you’ll get there if you want to. You might not trust it now, but in time, you’ll find that courage, confidence and self-trust to wade into the moderation waters. And when you are, I’ll be there to
help.
And so, for those that are ready … let’s do this.
You can join us here.
The education starts tomorrow.
Let me know if you have any last minute questions!

Jill
