what to do when dieting gets tough

Published: Fri, 11/09/12

Hi ,

When I was still competing in figure shows regularly, I remember the all-consuming, singular focus I had on keeping my diet tight and my training consistent. I would forgo family functions, social events, dinner out with Jade or anything that would take me away from my schedule (and tupperware!). Ahh, such is the stage life.

This kind of dedication is certainly impressive, but it is also extreme.

So how do we, as non-competitors, stick with a nutrition plan or exercise program when there is no threat of being on stage in a bikini to keep us "in line?" I think we all have moments of struggle with motivation and the how-to when it comes to compliance. Competitors are machines; they have to be. But how can we stay on track when it seems so hard?

The first step is awareness: Where are we on the journey? And how can we anticipate the struggles that are inevitably going to come up?

In my newest post, I outline for you the 5 PHASES OF DIETING and give my insight on how to handle each one in order to be successful long-term. There are periods of acute difficulty and other times where it feels effortless.

Read it here===> The 5 Phases of Successful Dieting

And then let me know what you think. Where are you in the process? What is tripping you up? How do you handle set-backs?
